St. George School Band
The St. George Band Booster Club fully endorses the school’s mission statement and supports a quality band program which prepares the student for future study in the fields of music performance and music education.
The St. George Band Booster Club also fully supports the band director in developing a comprehensive program. The band student will be given the opportunity to learn to play an instrument, to read music and be given a variety of opportunities to play his or her instrument.
About the Band Program
The St. George School Band offers the opportunity to gain musical knowledge to any student in grades four through eight.
Learning to play a musical instrument is a true challenge requiring a good amount of time and effort. The musical knowledge and skill gained in the St. George School Band can be carried forward into high school, college, and even into a professional career. The St. George School Band provides our students with the opportunity to play their instrument in an environment of teamwork, discipline, cooperation and friendly competition. Through several public performances each year, the band serves to instill confidence and pride in a job well done.
How to Join the Band

Instruments offered include:
- snare drum
If you already own an instrument, please bring it to the first lesson so it can be inspected for proper working conditions.
If you need to obtain an instrument, rental is your best option. Rentals start at $19.00 per month and can be ordered by calling PM Music Center at (630) 978-4756. Or you can order on their website - http://www.pmmusiccenter.com.
PM Music will deliver the instrument and lesson book to St. George, so you will never have to go to the store. If you already have an instrument, a lesson book will be needed (Yamaha Band Student-Book 1). The cost of the book is approximately $8.00, and can be purchased through PM Music Center or other music stores in the area.
Band Booster Club
The St. George Band Booster Club is made of band student and parents who actively support the St. George School Band with their musical interests. The St. George School Band performs a Christmas and Spring Concert, participates in the Archdiocesan Solo Contest, sponsors the Annual Mostaccioli Dinner, plays for the Kindergarten and 8th Grade Graduations and attends a musical related field trip during the school year.

Band Booster Meetings take place the First Thursday of every month in Meeting Room 4 of the Parish Life Center at 7:00 pm. All members are encouraged to attend and share their time and talent.

Music learned in the summer session will help students to understand beginning, intermediate or advanced level material covered during the regular school year. For advanced students, this session will help to keep the skills they have developed, fresh throughout the summer.
